KJK Innovations Launches Sync1PPS Solution for Precision Time Synchronization
We introduced Sync1PPS, a hardware-based time synchronisation and 1PPS (pulse-per-second) distribution solution designed for demanding scientific measurement applications. The system addresses the need for precise timing in experimental setups where network-based protocols like PTP and NTP may not provide sufficient reliability or the GNSS is not available.
Hardware-Based Architecture
The Sync1PPS solution utilises a central, highly accurate clock source—such as an atomic clock or high-precision quartz oscillator—as the master time reference. This clock distributes synchronised time signals to connected instruments through direct hardware connections, including twisted-pair cables and fibre-optic links. The system employs common signalling methods such as pulse-per-second (PPS) signals and specialised time code formats to ensure precise alignment across multiple devices
Target Applications
This timing solution is specifically designed for scientific measurements requiring microsecond or nanosecond-level precision, where traditional network synchronisation methods may introduce unacceptable latency or jitter. By providing deterministic, hardware-level synchronisation, the Sync1PPS system enables researchers to achieve reliable performance in laboratory experiments, field studies, and specialised measurement applications.
